In 2016, the Braver Angels national organization was born following a divisive election. The goal of Braver Angels sounds simple enough – could diverse Americans (Republican, Democrat native born, and immigrant, Christian, Muslim, Black, White, Latinx, etc.) still disagree respectfully, and try to find common ground?
It starts by listening to and hearing out each other’s stories. A Beaverton Rotarian is a trained Braver Angels conversation facilitator and has led several workshops. We hope to have a speaker at a future BRC meeting program to further spread the value of this approach to civil discourse in the Beaverton community.
