Beaverton Rotary continued its commitment to fighting food insecurity by supporting the Aloha Huber School Food Store Project, an initiative that helps more than 80 families within the Aloha Huber School community.
The December school break is an especially challenging time for families experiencing food insecurity, as access to school-based meal programs is interrupted. To help bridge this gap, the Food Store provides large, customized boxes of food tailored to the needs of each family, ensuring dignity, choice, and meaningful support during the holiday season.
The event was made possible through the efforts of more than 30 Beaverton Rotarians and their family members, joined by additional volunteers from the Aloha Huber School community. Volunteers assisted with organizing, distributing, and supporting families throughout the event.
Beaverton Rotary was also joined by students from the International School of Beaverton National Honor Society, who organized their own food drive and played an active role during the Food Store. The students helped families select from the donated items and assisted volunteers wherever needed, exemplifying youth leadership and service.
Members from other Rotary groups also participated, reinforcing Rotary’s shared commitment to service and collaboration across the Rotary community.
Funding for the Aloha Huber School Food Store was provided through the generous support of the Beaverton Rotary Foundation, a Rotary District 5100 matching grant, and a grant from the Safeway Foundation, whose contribution provided a significant boost to the project.
Beaverton Rotary extends its heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, partners, donors, and students who helped make this effort a success and ensured families had access to nutritious food during a critical time.
